Sequestered

She
Sequestered by a tree
Watches from a distance

She
Sequestered by a tree
Looks beyond what others see

They laugh, they mock
She swings her frock

If she hides when they wave
Will you cast her blame?

She
Sequestered by a tree
Climbs up as far as she–

Seeking, looking for
authenticity
In faces of the young to be…

She is
sequestered
by the tree.

  1. Ah, how mysterious… I’m still mulling the meaning of “sequestered by a tree”. Haunting tone, makes one want a glimpse of “She”

Haunting, yes, and tantalizing, which is necessary in the best of poems.

  3. nice..love the mystery in this… could be different things…will keep pondering what it is for me..

  4. Not sure about most of this poem…but the following stumped me completely:
    “Seeking, looking for
    authenticity
In faces of the young to be…”

Sure I can identify with ‘her’ isolationism…finally I stopped climbing trees (Royal Palms are not that easy–grin! But I can sequester with the best of them.

Thank you for the mystery herein, love the wordings!
    PEACE!

  5. authenticity is often not the easiest thing to find…looking for in the yet to be born might be the best place…but better get to them before someone starts raising them…smiles,

  6. ghostly and haunting, yet ringing with truth… hiding out, watching the world go by… love the imagery.

  7. Interesting partnership you have created for her solitude in this, enjoyed the refrain. lovely write ~ Rose
